I make bright bold colorful knit pieces using natural materials. I am exploring the aesthetics of joy in my work. Knitwear is where I find my flow, it gives me boundaries within which I can be creative while also problem solving. I have been hand knitting and designing for myself for years.

 

During my work as a t-shirt graphic designer I realized I could combine my love of knitting and surface pattern design for garments. I’m now applying this knowledge to my studies in knitwear design.

I work primarily in wool, as I care deeply about the wool supply chain. I feel strongly that this is the best material in the world for us to wear. It has more beneficial features than the most high tech fabric; temperature regulation, wicking fire resistance, the list goes on. I think we can change the supply chain for the better by utilizing this amazing material. The world is shifting back to natural materials and wool needs investment to relocalize the supply chain for a more resilient system. I’d like to be part of this shift.
